    Weather

During late June and early July, Japan experiences the rainy season (Tsuyu), characterized by warm, humid, and often wet conditions. Despite the rain, June is a beautiful time to visit, with lush green landscapes and blooming hydrangeas, offering a uniquely atmospheric experience of Japan.

    • Temperature: Average daytime temperatures range from 22°C to 30°C (72°F to 86°F), with high humidity.
    • Rain: Frequent showers and occasional heavy rainfall are common.
    • Sunshine: Despite the rain, there are intervals of sunshine and high UV levels.

    "Practical Tips for Attendees"
    • Rain gear: Carry a compact umbrella or a light raincoat for sudden showers.
    • Clothing: Light, breathable fabrics are recommended to stay comfortable in humid weather.
    • Health precautions: Stay hydrated and use sunscreen when outdoors.
    • Mosquito protection: Insect repellent is helpful for outdoor activities.

    Electricity

Japan uses a 100-volt electrical system, but the frequency differs between regions:

    • Eastern Japan (including Tokyo and surrounding areas): 50 Hz
    • Western Japan (including Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima): 60 Hz

The boundary between the two systems is approximately marked by Fuji River in Shizuoka Prefecture and Itoigawa in Niigata Prefecture.

    "Important for International Visitors"
    • Many modern electronic devices (such as phone chargers and laptops) support dual frequencies and can be used throughout Japan.
    • However, some appliances -particularly those with motors or timers (e.g., hair dryers, electric clocks) -may not function correctly if they are not compatible with the local frequency.
    • Travelers from countries using different voltages (e.g., 220-240V) will need a voltage converter and plug adapter.

    Currency

The official currency of Japan is the "Japanese Yen (JPY, ¥).
Banknotes come in denominations of ¥1,000, ¥2,000(rare), ¥5,000 and ¥10,000, while coins include ¥1, ¥5, ¥10, ¥50, ¥100, and ¥500. While credit cards and digital payment methods are becoming more common in Tokyo, many places - such as small restaurant, local shops, and older establishments - still prefer cash. Therefore, it is advisable to carry some Japanese yen with you during your stay.
